| A man escapes from prison... The Heroes battle Firefly, who begins to get the better of them when someone douses his fire with foam, then wraps him up in a net! This is Crime-Buster, the new Hero for Hire, competing with Luke and Danny! And Luke recognizes that voice... Crime-Buster begins to compete, but he's much more brutal, going so far as to charge a kid $50 to deal with a bully. Crime-Buster shatters the bully's kneecaps, putting him in the hospital! Things come to a head when the terrorists threaten a sporting event at Madison Square Garden and the city brings in the Heroes, and their rival Crime-Buster! Luke and Danny rescue hostages, so Crime-Buster reaches the bomb first. But when he sees only fifteen seconds remain, his courage breaks! He flees, leaving the Heroes to disable the device, which Luke does the simple way: pulling the detonator apart! These events ruin Crime-Buster's reputation, but, lurking outside the celebratory dinner, he vows there will one day be a reckoning. Luke never realizes Crime-Buster is Eugene Mason, a fellow inmate from his time at Seagate... |
