The Silver Surfer has finally found peace living on Earth with the love of Alicia Masters. But their vacation, traveling New England, is interrupted by the attack of a long-time friend from the Surfer's days with the Defenders... the Gargoyle! After fending off Isaac's attack and purging the strange darkness that had infested him, the Gargoyle warns the pair of a great source of evil rising in the world. As they ponder their next step, the trio are assaulted by the Coroner, the being who initially attacked the Gargoyle. His masters demand the surrender of the Silver Surfer, or all of the lives in the small town they are in shall be forfeit.
