| "The Sinister Scarecrow!" - Iron Man spots someone robbing a theater and chases the criminal inside. Once there, the Uncanny Umberto (who is performing) uses his talents as an escape artist to capture the crook before Iron Man does. This inspires him to begin a life of crime, starting with the robbery of Stark Industries plans for defense technology the communists would love to have. "The Green Thing" - A farmer finds an unusual plant inside his greenhouse. The plant is alien in origin, and is the harbinger of a serious problem: he has come to test the viability of invading and conquering Earth. With defenses specifically attunded to human beings, how can a mere farmer defeat this alien in single combat for the fate of the world? "The Primitive" - In this chapter of "Tales of the Watcher," we follow two brothers in the future. One is a successful used car salesman, and the other a dreamer. The dreamer searches the galaxy in the hopes of finding evidence of a race more advanced than mankind. He has no idea how close to that discovery he could truly come. "The Recipe" - prose - Josie has always been a tomboy, much to her mother's dismay. Her mother decides to do whatever she can to stir up more normal interests in Josie. Fearing that she'll be kept away from a baseball game that weekend, Josie decides to take up cooking to control her own schedule. She buys herself and old, used cookbook, and her inexperienced self leaves her ill prepared to realize the problems with a recipe that calls for a cat's meow or a crow's nest. |
