"The Sandman Strikes" - The incredibly intelligent individuals in the Marvel Universe's penal system locked up the Sandman in a cell with a window. He escapes with almost no effort, and Mr. Fantastic hears about it. He sends the Human Torch to find Spider-Man and let him know the Sandman is out, but the Torch finds Sandman first. Sandman has no interest in someone as young as the Torch, and simply escapes without a fight. Irritated, the Torch dresses up as Spider-Man and issues a public challenge. The Sandman comes to get him, and the two fight through an empty building. The Sandman lures the Torch under the automatic sprinkler system, without realizing the effect it'll have on himself. "The Origin of Dr. Strange" - Stephen Strange was a famous, talented, and incredibly selfish surgeon. A car accident damaged the nerves in his hands, ensuring that he would never operate again. He roamed the world looking for a cure, and in an act of desperation, found the Ancient One who was purported to have magical abilities in this regard. The Ancient One refused to help Strange, as his motivations were selfish, but did sense enough good in him to offer him the chance to study the dark arts himself. Strange soon uncovered a plot by Baron Mordo to assassinate the Ancient One, but Mordo's spells made it impossible to warn him. Instead, he accepted the training, in hopes of defeating Mordo himself. This unselfish act proved himself to the Ancient One, and his training began. |
